The TA Instruments HR 10 Discovery Hybrid Rheometer is engineered to deliver high-precision rheological measurements for a wide range of materials, from low-viscosity liquids to soft solids with delicate intermolecular structures. Featuring a minimum torque sensitivity of just 5 nN·m in both oscillation and steady shear modes, and a torque resolution of 0.1 nN·m, it enables accurate characterization of the lowest stresses and smallest sample volumes. This exceptional sensitivity is made possible by TA’s patented Magnetic Thrust Bearing, which reduces system friction by 70% compared to traditional designs, and by the enhanced Advanced Drag Cup Motor that minimizes system inertia by up to 80% for greater precision across the entire measurement range. With a frequency range from 1.0 × 10⁻⁷ Hz to 100 Hz and angular velocity capabilities from 0 to 300 rad/s, the HR 10 delivers superior dynamic performance for both G’ and G” measurements, enabling confident analysis across diverse experimental designs.
The HR 10’s intelligent design ensures speed, accuracy, and ease of use in every interaction. The True Position Sensor (TPS) provides unmatched gap accuracy by measuring and compensating for thermal expansion in real time, eliminating the need for special geometries or environmental workarounds. The fast gap positioning system—three times quicker than competing rheometers—offers 0.02 µm resolution, and paired with a tactile keypad, automated trim gap, and bearing lock, streamlines sample preparation. Integrated 360° sample stage lighting enhances visibility for faster, more repeatable loading and trimming, while the responsive One-Touch-Away™ touchscreen interface keeps key instrument controls instantly accessible.
For maximum versatility, the HR 10 supports TA’s full range of Smart Swap™ environmental control systems and accessories, enabling quick magnetic-base installation and automatic system configuration for temperature, humidity, or other environmental simulations. A displacement resolution of 10 nrad, step times of 15 ms for strain and 5 ms for rate (99% of commanded value), and a maximum normal force capacity of 50 N with 0.5 mN resolution ensure accurate measurements even in demanding applications. Powered by TRIOS software, users can program complex experiments with ease, control multiple instruments from a single PC, compare results across techniques, and automatically generate detailed, customizable reports with support for export to multiple file formats.
Combining the proven reliability of the Discovery Hybrid Rheometer family with advanced performance technologies from higher-tier HR 20 and HR 30 models, the HR 10 offers exceptional measurement capability, operational efficiency, and rugged durability—making it the ideal choice for general viscosity, viscoelasticity, and continuous production control at a highly cost-effective price point. Please Note: A gas source (air or nitrogen) is REQUIRED FOR OPERATION, which must be clean, dry, oil-free compressed gas at 345–1034 kPa gauge (50–150 psig). The dew point should be –20°C or better. Flow rate should be 2.5 L/min. A 1/4 NPT female connection must be provided for the rheometer main gas supply. Refer to the Site Prep Guide found at the bottom of this page for further details.
All of our equipment is fully tested to perform at factory specifications before being shipped.
